Marriage
The Sacrament of Matrimony
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish a relationship between themselves a partnership of the whole life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. We just got engaged. Now What?
Marriage Preparation
Congratulations! We are here to help you through your journey through Sacramental preparation of your Marriage.
First step: Please contact the parish office at least 8 months before your desired wedding date.
Initial meeting: An initial meeting will be scheduled for you and your fiancé(e) to meet with the priest or deacon. During this meeting, you will discuss the marriage preparation process, begin the required paperwork for your marriage file, and set a tentative wedding date.
Wedding dates are not reserved until you have met with the priest/deacon and have begun the marriage preparation process.
Non Parishioners
We warmly welcome you to celebrate your Wedding with us. We ask that your marriage preparation be completed at your home parish. Please note that the process involves more than simply obtaining permission, so it is important that you contact the parish office to clarify all requirements and timelines.
What do we mean by “home parish”?
If you are not currently attending Sunday Mass, we encourage you to begin doing so. Choose the parish where you envision growing in faith and raising your family.
Once you begin marriage preparation with your home parish priest, we will request a permission to marry in order to set your wedding date. To allow time to review the calendar and confirm availability, please contact the parish office at least 8 months before your desired wedding date.
Parishioners
If you grew up in this parish, you may still be registered under your parents’ names. Please request a registration form from the parish office and provide your family information so that you may be registered separately. We encourage all individuals 18 years and older to register independently.
Required Documentation
A recent baptismal certificate is required. The certificate must be issued within the last 6 months and cannot be outdated.
