Our K–6 Religious Education program helps children grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and develop a strong foundation in the Catholic faith.

Through age-appropriate faith formation, prayer, activities, and opportunities to participate in the life of the Church, children are encouraged to know their faith, live their faith, and share their faith. Our program accompanies children as they grow, learn, and discover what it means to follow Christ as members of the Catholic Church and our parish community.

(BUTTON #1) Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) at St. Damien of Molokai is a unique approach to faith formation for children  5 years old, rooted in Sacred Scripture, the Liturgy, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori.

In a peaceful and beautiful environment called the Atrium, children are invited to listen, explore, pray, and grow in their relationship with God at their own pace. Through hands-on materials, Scripture presentations, and prayer, children discover the joy of God’s love and learn to participate more fully in the life and worship of the Church.

A place where little hearts can wonder, pray, and grow closer to the Good Shepherd.

(BUTTON 3) Preparation for Sacraments

As children grow in their faith, our Religious Education program provides preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Sacramental preparation is a two-year process that begins in 2nd grade and takes place during our regular K–6 Religious Education program. Through age-appropriate catechesis, prayer, and participation in the life of the Church, children are prepared to understand, celebrate, and live out these important steps in their journey with Christ.

Faith formation doesn't end with First Holy Communion! Our enrichment classes give children the opportunity to continue growing in their knowledge and love of the Catholic faith, deepen their relationship with Jesus, and discover how to put their faith into practice in everyday life.
